Job Description
We are currently recruiting several Mechanical Technicians to join our team in East London. As a Mechanical Technician, you will be working at the largest sewage treatment works in the UK, where you will be presented with unique challenges daily.
What you’ll be doing as a Mechanical Technician
- Investigating plant failures and carrying out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process. This may involve investigating and diagnosing complex faults and carrying out repairs during incidents.
- Carrying out scheduled planned maintenance work on mechanical and electrical equipment in compliance with company procedures to minimize plant breakdowns.
- Providing technical advice to the wider team, referring to up-to-date technical knowledge, and providing training or support for technical trainees if required.
- Using technical equipment such as various pumps and associated control gear, 3-phase motors, starters, and controls.
- You will also be using; electronic control systems such as VSDs, automatic valves and penstocks, flow, level and pressure measurement, programmable logic controllers, variable speed drives and controls, chemical handling, and dosing equipment.
What should you bring to this role?
Essential Skills
- This role will involve you working on mechanical pumps and undergoing maintenance on these pumping machines so having an Engineering background will support you in these daily duties.
- Experience in Mechanical Engineering.
- Physical Fitness is necessary as you will be required to work within confined spaces.
- A valid driving licence is essential.
Desirable Skills
- Hold a Level 3 or equivalent Mechanical Engineering qualification.
- An understanding or qualification in Electrical Engineering.
- Pumping or Wastewater treatment experience is beneficial but not essential.
- Awareness of health and safety policies and procedures.
