Programme Assistant – 5-month Temp – £18.26 per hour – London Hybrid
Intergovernmental body is seeking an experienced Programme Assistant to provide support to their Economic, Youth and Sustainable Development Directorate at their central London headquarters.
This is a temporary position to start ASAP until September 2024 initially and will pay £18.26 per hour PAYE.
The role is hybrid and will involve working at their central London offices 2-3 days per week.
The Programme Assistant will be responsible for providing administrative, management and technical support in the implementation and reporting of the project. Duties will include:
Assist with the day-to-day management, coordination and implementation of the components of the project, including all substantive, logistics and administrative matters
Coordinate project activities, from logistics, procurement, administrative and financial points of view, supporting the Project Manager in strategic planning and systematic coordination of project activities;
Support day-to-day project activity implementation and overall coordination by liaising with international Government offices and experts to guarantee smooth implementation of administrative and operational activities within the timelines
Prepare and apply the funds as budgeted for various components of the project activities and the quarterly project report, including arranging staff, expert and participant travel, consultancy contracts, and workshop logistics;
Support in organising spot check and auditing activities for the Project and co- ordinating with the auditors
Prepare draft text and figures for the timely preparation and compilation of the Project Annual/Quarterly Work Plans and Progress/Final substantial and financial reports for submission
Maintain up-to-date files and records of project documentation;
Provide logistical support for workshops and other meetings
Process project-related travel arrangements;
Provide logistics and backstopping support to experts/consultants, staff and government counterparts towards achievement of project objectives
The ideal Programme Assistant will have the following knowledge, skills and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in international development, law, social sciences, public administration, project management or other relevant field.
- Project administration experience in the field of development cooperation including in grant management;
- Experience in financial and logistics management and reporting;
- Excellent Knowledge of Microsoft Office packages including Word and Excel;
- Knowledge of cybercrime, cybersecurity and criminal justice issues is an advantage.
- Ability to draft, edit and produce written reports and results-focussed reports;
- Experience working with Government, civil society, international organizations and donors;
- Experience of working in a multicultural environment
